Indian Railway probationary officers get an exclusive training period of 18 months. My training started on the 31st of July 2017. It started with the first week of the orientation program in Jamalpur at IRIMEE( Indian Railway Institute of mechanical and electrical engineers). This included getting an All India Railway Pass of Ist Class in which were entitled to travel across the country from any station to any station throughout our training. This was the most exhilarating thing in our training. Some volunteered officers were also granted Extraordinary Leave for preparation of Civil Services Exam and signed the declaration that they won't further be giving civil services exam if not selected. Although, from 2018 onwards everybody can give Civil Services Exam during their service period. IRIMEE used to be the college of Special Class Railway Apprentice and IES officers which included an institute, Railway officers House named 'Yantrik Niwas' and some sports facility including Badminton courts, Squash court, Cricket Ground, Volleyball ground and indoor games including TT and snooker. Our first week included since breaking week among officers getting to know each other and discussing the facilities of the railway we will get in future and growth prospects. We were given a room with two officers sharing one room which was decent enough. It had a TV, Two beds, a large bathroom, a balcony two tables, a cooler and a heater. Later after almost 8 months, it had AC too. And then on the weekend, we started our journey to NAIR (National Academy of Indian Railway) Vadodara, our next destination for beginning our Foundation course the most exciting, memorable, and well-informed course.
