      Hello Friends!

This is Swapnil Patil currently working in Indian Railways in Jabalpur District of Madhya Pradesh, India.

I am writing this blog to aware IES (Indian Engineering Services) aspirants about the type of work and life they will be having after entering into Indian Railways as an IRSME officer. This blog will help aspirants and other railway enthusiasts and the young generation to have a glimpse of the life of an officer in Indian Railways. This will bring transparency in the life of enthusiasts to have clarity in their career choices. Life during probation period - Part III

       The next exciting journey in the probation period starts with field training which is equivalent to Bharat darshan. As we have our first class passes with us, so were divided into groups of 4 to 5 each chosen by ourselves for the same service that is IRSME. My group consisted of 4 officers, Jaswant from Bhubaneshwar, Anmol from Chattisgarh, and Rupesh from Maharashtra. We started our Training at Raipur Diesel Shed. We have covered around 15 states and two UTs in total. We went to Bangalore for Rail wheel factory, Banaras for DLW, Patiala for DMW, Lucknow for RDSO, Delhi for Coaching Depot, Mumbai for Coaching Depot, Mysore, Chennai for ICF including Pondicherry, Patna for coaching depot, Hyderabad for training at IRISET institute of IRST officers, Pune for training at IRSEN institute of IRSE officers, Ajmer for Coach repair workshop, Kolkata for coaching depot, Panchgani for Ethics training,  Bhopal for Coach Factory MLR. Life During Probation Period -Part II (Foundation Course)

          This is the most exciting course that every railway officer cherishes be it mechanical (IRSME), civil (IRSE), electrical (IRSEE), Electronics and communication(IRST), stores (IRSS), traffic (IRTS), accounts (IRAS), or RPF(IRPF) officer.  This journey starts with a Chief guest welcoming all officers on the very first morning. In our case, it was Rani from Gaikwad Dynasty whose home is Laxmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara Gujarat. It was my honor to welcome the chief guest with a bookay. The very next program is the introduction to faculty members of NAIR, Vadodara. We were blessed not only to have good senior officers training but also a good mentor. Sir, Sachin Sharma a 1991 Batch IRSME officer, Sir Manish Agarwal IRSME 1992 batch IRSME, Ma'am Deepa Chawala IRAS officer, taught us diligently and efficiently. Life During Probation Period -Part I

                                    Indian Railway probationary officers get an exclusive training period of 18 months. My training started on the 31st of July 2017. It started with the first week of the orientation program in Jamalpur at IRIMEE( Indian Railway Institute of mechanical and electrical engineers). This included getting an All India Railway Pass of Ist Class in which were entitled to travel across the country from any station to any station throughout our training. This was the most exhilarating thing in our training. Some volunteered officers were also granted Extraordinary Leave for preparation of Civil Services Exam and signed the declaration that they won't further be giving civil services exam if not selected.
